The Nurse's Heart

The Nurse's Heart
A Nurse must have a heart
That's bigger than the rest.
How else can she see the worst
And give her best.
She puts on a brave face
With any sign of danger.
Cheeks lined with weariness,
Yet a smile to comfort a stranger.
She knows with
Kindness and love
There is always room to
Rise above.

Sorry about the typo she is a RN.
I would have a hard time being a nurse because I am such an empath; actually feel other people's pain and sorrow. Thank God, I am perfectly suited for being a good pharmacist.
That has to be exactly what a "Nurse's Heart" is like! Seriously...I think you "nailed-it" perfectly within the confines of your poetic description. Well done! My daughter is one semester away from becoming a Nurse. I can see her exemplifying these traits when I read your poem...How cool is that? (I appreciate the link and the mentioning here on this great hub.) Best of Fortune in all your writings!
Nurses make all the difference in a patient's recovery. Love the poem.
I do love my nurses, my favorite heroes! Male or female, but of course I prefer the latter. Woot! You rock!
Great poem. It does take someone very special to be a nurse.
Great poem Tammy-you sum it all up beautifully--and I agree 'nurses rock'.
Nurses are wonderful! Thanks for this poetic tribute to them
Love and peace
Tony

What a beautiful poem and a wonderful tribute to all the wonderful nurses of the world. Your compassionate heart and loving kindness comes through loud and clear. Thanks for being such a really great nurse.
Hugs,
Sage
I love you Tammy! I love you because you are a nurse. You already have contributed and you have loved the stranger. You have taken on a profession that is higher than the position of any national ruler. You've made the world a better place- one patient at a time. I love you Tammy!
(teachers, emts, soldiers, etc.) God bless you!
When my Dad lay dying in the hospital, it was a nurse who stood beside me with her arm protectively around me because I was shaking head to toe. It has always been a nurse who shows she cares and helps us through. I hope the nurses I've met in difficult times know how much I appreciated them.
Wonderful poem, Tammy. Here's to yours and every nurse's heart - may many more of us appreciate it a lot more!
What a pleasant surprise, didn't realize this was a poem by the title. It is very true. I'm amazed at how tired nurses are yet remain cheerful and helpful. Great poem Tammy!
Hi Tammy, You are the best. I only wish that You or someone like you could be my Nurse, the next trip to the hospital for me. GOD BLESS YOU !!!
Great stuff, Tammy. :)
Beautiful way to describe a nurse, Tams! I must share this with my nurse-daughter!
Tammy enjoyed this one - I have a mother, mother in law, sister and sister in law that are or were nurses - great hub :)
So true Tammy, you need to have a really big heart to be a nurse. Nice work.
Great Post I am a nurse too!
Tams, Shannon loved this!
Thank you for sharing this pity, perfect poetry.
Well I knows ya have a big heart, loves the new pic !
Very well said. Nurses are like angels..only they do not have wings. It is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
beautiful poem and so true, nurses are special people and not everyone can do what you do. Cheers.
Wondrous poetry, my dearest Tam...
We´ve been so busy we haven´t read each other for quite a while, have we not? But I never forget my very good friends! Sweet and touching verses, Tam! Rated up and beautiful!
Warmest hugs and infinite heavenly blessings,
Al
wow, wonderful poem, makes me wish I could write such things, of course rated up and beautiful, and i saw you hit 10,000 views, congrats on that number, keep up the great work.
Rated up and awesome and beautiful, keep on writing!
Ofcourse this is beautiful poem and how the nurses should be. I know of a surgeon who was working in delhi in Govt hospital and he stopped doing thoracic surgeries because nurses in his hospital were not good nurses and he himself have to do everything what was basically job of the nurse..but then in govt hospitals in India you cant fire anyone .. anyways nurses are and should be held in high esteem
Really loved your hub and it's obvious it came from your heart. I've only just found you on here , I will be back in a bit to read more of your work .Thank you for sharing Tammy.
Love your poem. I am sitting in the hospital with my 13 month old daughter again. She has been in a good 7 months of her little life. The nurses have been wonderful. A good, compassionate nurse makes the rough times so much better. My mom is an RN and her patients would have been fortunate to have had her. Will have to check out your other hubs....thanks so much, Sheryl
Thank you for very nice poem. My parents always went to the hospital and I decided to be a nurse. Thank you again :)
I would not be alive today with nurses. Beautiful.
Hi TammyL,
Beautiful poem. Being a nurse myself I this really touched me. Wonderful! Please keep writing.
Great Hub :))))))
Love it
It's reassuring and wonderful to know that no matter how "rubbish" a person's life can get because of stress or issues or whatever - that they put in the time and energy to help others and make a difference. What may seem or feel like a thankless job can have other rewards too. The sense of being appreciated and understood! Think someone needs a hug, Tammy! LOL! Cheers! Hugs too!
Lovely, Tammy. If I wrote a poem about nursing, it would probably involve more bodily fluid, and olfactory overload..but then I'd break it up with a line or two of compassion ;-)
Thanks for the mail! And this is great.
Very nice poem. I always like to read poems.
Thanks for sharing.
Lovely words about a group of people that actually deserve it. Well done
